First low whistle

I purchased a Dominic low F whistle as my introduction to this class of instruments. It seemed a good way to see if my 70 years old fingers could manage the Piper's grip, rather than going right to a low D. I'm a novice, having just begun to learn the high D last year. The Dominic low F is very light and sounds quite nice when I get the holes covered properly (lots and lots of practice still needed). My order was filled promptly. The price point was excellent and I liked that figures were shown online in CAD. Four stars instead of five only because I don't have a similar whistle for comparison.

Great product at a good price

As a beginner, it sounds very good, weighs very little and is very beautiful.

The first flute experience

For years I had a little dream of playing a flute because of soulful sound in various folk music and movie/video game soundtracks. I couldn't decide where to start learning and what type of flute I wanted. After some research I came to the conclusion that the Irish low whistle was the closest to my idea. And your product was just the perfect combination of great sound, amazing price and enough demos on YouTube. This is the instrument I am starting my journey with, so I really have nothing to compare it to. I only hope that I have enough persistence to become as good as Rugito dell'Anima someday ;D

Nice low whistle!

This is a very nice low whistle at an affordable price. Looks great and plays easily. The finger spacing is a little closer than other low whistles I have which means I have less stretch with my right hand. This makes it very comfortable to play. Very pleased with my purchase.

Something is not right.

I’m finding that the instrument doesn’t want to sound, which is a bit disappointing. The swivel joint seems to easily come apart ( though it does seem Like it would work if the sound worked). It seems to prefer only playing in the second octave. The first octave is so full Of air it just doesn’t work.

The fingering of the lowest notes are difficult for my arthritic hands. I wish there was a way to reach the lowest notes.

The ability to adjust...

The ability to adjust the position of the lower holes is a major plus. It makes it much easier to play and uses less of the piper's grip. Thank you so so much for this ability.

The Low Eb whistle...

The Low Eb whistle has a nice, soft and mellow tone. It sounds fantastic together with an Irish harp. Maybe not the Whistle for sessions but excellent for duets or playing in small groups.

Low whitle in key...

Low whitle in key F is amazing. I really enjoying to play with. Pros: Sound, its mellow and beutiful. Sounds great. Can be played not so loud, i can excercive in the evening. This can be also con to play on session, but the it can be pushed and the 2nd octave can be quite loud, when you need. Not breaking octaves like Dixon low whistle. In generaly it's more Easy to play nice, easy to achive and play in 2nd octave, also 3rd octave is possible. is possible Cons: New desingn need less air then the old, still i have to carefully plan when to breathe, also it's depends on song. In general, pipers grip is for me necsesary, i have not long fingers, i recomand this whistle, and also the service is perfect, shipping is fast and Communication is really nice Thank you

Very nice whistle

My first impression was that it is just a plastic whistle. Why £70? Then I noticed the aluminium blade (?). Then I started playing and for a while had some difficulty in covering all the holes at one time. I'm now getting to grips with the pipers grip again and doing fine. It is a quite wide bore whistle and takes a bit more puff, but the tone is great. I think that is why the tone is good, a bit like a wooden B flat I had some years ago. So first impressions were wrong. Presumably the development of the whistle plays a part in the retail price

I’m a beginner at any sort of whistle but having watched a review, by CutiePie on YouTube, of these lovely whistles, I decided I wanted one. I’m having a lot of fun working with it, practicing the Piper’s Grip and enjoying the soft, breathy sound. It’s easier to play than the Low D whistle I also have and quieter than my Susato high D. Service was great and I’d have no hesitation in recommending the company and the whistles.

when I received my whistle I was a little disappointed as my whistle had some damage around the air hole and not minor scratches that I expected. I contacted Jimmy at JDM and he was a proper gentleman, no quibble he replaced my whistle with a pristine new one. A lovely experience in this modern day. A lovely sounding whistle at a bargain price.
